The K-5 is an APS-C camera, so the lens can be used for all its functions (macro and everyday). The confusion may be because of the wording of the announcement. Where it says: "you can only use it for macro photography if you mount it to a full frame camera" I would move the "only" to read: "you can use it only for macro photography if you mount it to a full frame camera [i.e., not for normal-distance photography]" The comments at PetaPixel explain why this might be the case. At infinity focus, the image circle likely covers only APS-C. Focusing at macro distances moves the lens forward, like using an extension tube, which enlarges the image circle sufficiently to cover full frame. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
