Dan, why not? Yes it can. I don't understand what's the problem.
As for Petapixel's comment, - it is strange by itself. Many lenses
are compatible with both crop sensor and full frame DSLRs, but may have
somewhat limited use on the full-frame cameras (smaller image circle,
vignetting, ...)
It's a similar situation here. And since Petapixel is just summarizing
information from the manufacturer's website, I suspect they do not have
much information of what is actually happening.

"There is one strange thing about the lens though: it's compatible
with both crop sensor and full frame DSLRs, but you can only use it
for macro photography if you mount it to a full frame camera. Only
APS-C cameras can use it for both macro and everyday photography."
If this is true, it can't be used on the K-5 as claimed in the eBay
listing, can it?

There is a new Venus 60/2.8 Ultra-Macro (up to 2:1) lens. As far as I
understand it has adjustable magnification. It's made in China.
Petapixel
has s brief description of it:

It is sold on ebay for $375 OBO:

(And it comes in various mounts: Pentax, Canon, Nikon, Sony Alpha).
