...and if it doesn't work, you can always eat the peas. Tee Hee! J ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: "Christine Aguila" <[email protected]> To: "Pentax-Discuss Mail List" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, June 15, 2016 6:32:38 AM Subject: Re: OT: Back Pain . . .
Yesterday afternoon was the first time I left the house since last Wednesday. I went for a 4 block walk. Movement went well and the stairs went fine. Through this past week I took Advil, and I iced my back every hour for 10 minutes with a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a hand towel. I didn’t start icing until say Friday or Saturday—can’t remember which. The icing was the turning point. As soon as I did that the back started to improve. I reached out to a friend who has back problems, and he was the one who recommended ice, which is what his doctor prescribes. Ice seems a little counterintuitive, but it’s better at reducing swelling than heat. I did use some of that icy hot (which is in the class of ben gay) and I thought that helped as well. this morning I feel pretty good. Not 100%, but getting there. Last Tuesday I was doing some stretching and when finished I could feel a little twinge in my lower back. Wednesday was nearly unbearable, so I hit the couch. Sitting was the worst. Couldn’t even do any computer related work. Sitting is nearly normal today. I’ve got some back stretches to start doing in the next few days—very easy moves—nothing foolhardy. I enjoy stretching, and had been doing it regularly, but I lapsed for several months. After a long lapse, I jumped into a full stretching routine. Stupid. I won’t let that happen again. Brian and Yolanda—I wish you speedy recovery, and I do recommend the icing but only if your doctor agrees it’s good therapy for your specific conditions.
