Exactly. Some mail clients are braindead and don't show the proper chain of replies when people follow the 30-40 year standard of inline replies to the content rather than top-posting.
That has caused me problems on occasion when someone will only see the first line of my reply and their email client hides the actual meat of the discussion from them.
