Leon, carrying a spare battery is one thing. Being in the middle of shooting
something
ephemeral and having to stop and (1) dig out the battery, (2) change it  to take
another
picture when the one in the camera dies is another.  Not to mention being able
to use
the camera under extreme weather conditions.

It really seems that they should be able to design and produce a "modern" camera
that
you can, at the very least, remove the film from if the battery dies.  But of
coruse, if
it worked without a battery, some battery mfgs wouldn't make quite so much
money, eh?
