You've never used my cameras then. My pz1p gives little warning, like minutes or less. If I've waited for the battery warning to come on, then I've waited too long. I'll usually only get a few extra frames before it craps out. It was the same thing with the Pentax 645 that I used while working for the children's portrait outfit. I've learned to listen to the motor drive of my camera, when I hear it getting sluggish it's time to throw in another battery.
BTW, there is a modern camera with manual film rewind... The Nikon F5.
