Taka,

The winder mechanism is directly geared to turn the small roller that engages the
sprocket holes. The big roller with the 'Magic Fingers' is just there to take up the
slack after the small roller pulls the film across the pressure plate and out of the
cassette!

If the interlock between shutter and winder is not broken, then there must be another
problem. That little roller which links into the sprocket holes must be turning, but
not pulling film out. You can make this happen if you hold the rewind knob and don't
let the film get pulled out of the cassette. Sometimes this is a fatal mistake as you
rip up the sprocket holes on the film and it cannot be processed.

My advice would be, put in new batteries, clean the contacts on the Body and Motor
Drive, and clean that rewind knob axel. After that, things should work just fine.
Stop worrying about it. (unless perhaps you are winding your own film cassettes?)

Regards, Bob S.

>> The weirdest thing is that I had exactly that problem-
two rolls had overlapping pictures on the negatives,
both rolls only exhibited this at the very end of the
roll, one had torn film sprocket holes (I think I was
a little forceful in winding when I was trying to get
an action sequence and the drive kept hanging up).

I have since shot some rolls after those and have not
had any problems w/ overlapping shots.

Is there anything other than the winder crank shaft
that I can lubricate/clean in the camera to make sure
 everything is moving smoothly?

Winding mechanism in the camera is not broken- it does
not release the shutter unless the frame is fully wound
and the winding action is smooth.

Camera is otherwise flawless, seen maybe 40 rolls over
its lifetime, bought new in 1985.
