Well, not to be carrying on so much, Pl is right that the Z1p wasn't
marketed as a pro camera. It was more an "advanced" users camera. The
MZ-S is clearly marketed as a pro camera (just read every article written
on it and the "few' Pentax ads that they were motivated to put out).
Notice that in Pop Photo that they labeled the Z1p as best suited for
"advanced amateurs" while the MZ-S is for "advanced amateurs,
professional."While the Z1p has a higher fps rate, 1/3 stop exp. comp.,
better hyper modes,if you look at it it has less than the MZ-S. The Z1p
has no 6 pt AF (& it has a slower AF), HSS flash, multi-segment
pre-flash, wireless flash, AA battery grip with vertical release, very
soft mirror/shutter....Plus the MZ-S is metal while the Z1p is all
plastic (on the outside).Having both cameras, I feel that the MZ-S is
more of a pro camera. It's sturdier, has a VERY solid feel, while the
Z1p feels too plastic and flimsy in comparison. However, like all Pentax
cameras, I've abused my Z1p in the field & it's very reliable.Anyway,
Pentax made more with less with the MZ-S. They took away the features
not many Pentax users needed/wanted (or put them elsewhere like the AF360
FGZ flash), and made this camera sturdy & light. For me I mostly do
nature photography, so I'm in manual mode 98% of the time. The MZ-S
isgeared more toward outdoor/nature photography, for those who actually
leave their cars and go backpacking, hiking, climbing, skiing, etc (N & C
users are lazier...kidding).This is why I say that Pentax broke new
ground. It's easier to design a heavy, feature-packed blob procamera,
but to make it like the MZ-S...BTW, If we judge pro cameras by how many
features they have, where does that leave the LX?Just myopinion. : )Best,Cliff
