> General rules for fill flash? Full power in bright sunshine, down a stop on cloudy >days, so it's less obvious. Adjust as needed to suit your personal taste. > > Pat White > - Thanks for the clear advice, Pat. I don't use flash much outdoors and was finding the discussion a bit daunting.
About a month ago I was out in southern Wisconsin on a bright, sunny day, along with a friend who had one of his toddlers on his shoulders. I had my PZ-1p, FA Power Zoom 28-105, and Elitechrome Extra Color. I caught my friend and his daughter in a nice pose, so popped up the rtf flash and let the 1p do everything on automatic. Remember, this was on high-contrast slide film with zilch exposure latitude. Not only are my friend and his toddler perfectly exposed, so is the background. I don't recall the f-stop or shutter speed - it was the kind of moment one just has to take before the toddler starts to cry or something. I was very pleasantly surprised. The PZ-1p figured it all out, just like manual says it will. As I said, I don't take this kind of shot often. Joe - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
