Thanks for the clear advice, Pat. I don't use flash much outdoors and
was finding the discussion a bit daunting.

About a month ago I was out in southern Wisconsin on a bright, sunny
day, along with a friend who had one of his toddlers on his shoulders. I
had my PZ-1p, FA Power Zoom 28-105, and Elitechrome Extra Color. I
caught my friend and his daughter in a nice pose, so popped up the rtf
flash and let the 1p do everything on automatic. Remember, this was on
high-contrast slide film with zilch exposure latitude. Not only are my
friend and his toddler perfectly exposed, so is the background. I don't
recall the f-stop or shutter speed - it was the kind of moment one just
has to take before the toddler starts to cry or something. I was very
pleasantly surprised. The PZ-1p figured it all out, just like manual
says it will. As I said, I don't take this kind of shot often.
