So, I've got a problem I'm trying to solve and I thought that since
it's at least partially ruby related, this list might be a good place
to ask.
Let's say I have multiple webapps running, most of which are rails
apps, some of which were not written by me and I don't want to have to
change the code, but maybe even a few non-rails apps just for good
measure. ;~)
Now, what I really would like is a consistent look and feel to all of
these apps. At least in so far as having a standard header and footer
(if it's not too much to ask maybe even a standard sidebar).
I know of a number of ways to go about this, but I don't really like
any of them, so I'm wondering if any of you have come up against this
and how you got around the problem.

Have you looked at SiteMesh? http://www.opensymphony.com/sitemesh/
It's Java, not Rails, but it can decorate different kinds of server-
side web content, and it's nicely done.
If nothing else, it may give you ideas on how to do the same thing in
Ruby.
