Brad,
The question of analyzing GND came up on the forum several times and I always thought it has to do with DRC as I never saw what other people described. Thanks for clearing this out.
With polygon pours I agree with you if the new board is made. If a modification of the existing board is done I prefer to keep existing polygons and repour them at the end. There are other techniques, like hiding the net. But hiding the net would hide all tracks of the hidden net, such as fan-out tracks on the top/bottom layer, which I prefer to keep visible.
Regards, Igor

Igor,
The analyzing GND problem is not part of a DRC check. It is some sort of internal checking process, there is no option to hit ESC and stop the process. You can sit and wait while it is analyzing GND for 30 - 45 minutes, no problem.
Better advice, why pour polygons that are not going to actually be poured, just don't pour polygons until your routing is complete or almost complete?

Wouldn't it cancel DRC when you press 'ESC' key during the DRC check. It
needs a while to stop the process, especially if the polygons are large, but
it does it eventually.
Another good advice, coming from this forum, is to set the polygon track
width to a large value while you are laying out the tracks, so that polygons
are not poured. Change the polygon track width back to your preferred value
once you finished with tracks and DRC will check it only once, saving you a
lot of time.
