All that needs to be said about this new criminal aggression can be found in
the last chapter of a book written 8 years ago, Ellen Meisins Wood, The
Empire of Capital. The last chapter is entitled "Endless War." This is just
another of the wars needed to discipline nations or governments that
interfere for any reason with the smooth operations of global business. Oil
is secondary but important. It _may_ explain the whiff of old time
neocolonigalism reflected in France jumping the gun as it were: it may want
the oil for itself. But the U.S. and Nato as a whole are merely carryingout
their disciplinary duties, making an example of deviant states.

I am very sad that leftists even thought it was necessary to debate this
issue. My first major step to the left, well before I dreamt of becoming a
Marxists, was my response to LBJ's savaging of the Domincan Republic. I have
never seen any reason to give even a second thought to opposing flatly any
u.s. military action.
