There's another problem with recent Macs -- Apple changed the linker command syntax from something vaguely POSIXy to something absolutely byzantine and wacky. I wrote a patch some time ago but was too lame to check it in properly -- then the new TriD stuff became available. If you are still having trouble after trying the current round of advice, let me know and I'll put updating it on my ever-growing list of crash priority things to do.
