I would consult with a professional conservator before using either spray paint
or the Great Stuff foam.
Both would likely be irreversible treatments that could create preservation
issues in the future.

Subject: Re: [pestlist] Wasp Nest or Hornet Nest?

We are not sure how it was obtained. The founder of the historic home picked it
up. I have heard of Krylon for preserving this, but what is great stuff
expansion foam? Do I use both Great Stuff expansion foam and matte clear coat?
I would be very interested in ways to preserve this

Thank you so much for your help.

Regards,

Lexi

Hornets nest. How was it obtained? If you notice white dust falling out of it
that would be a pesticide dust FYI. I have preserved these with great stuff
expansion foam....do not get it on your skin...and sprayed with matte clear
coat and it has held up for years. JTV

Hi All,

I'm researching ways to treat this object, but I am not sure if this is a wasp
nest or a hornets nest. Understanding this will help me better treat the object.

Thank you so much! Looking forward to your responses.
