Stupid suggestion, but have you tried doing a man dpkg and seeing if there
are any switches for resolving dependencies for that? I couldnt see anything
myself, but...

For instance, and Im not sure if it is exactly what you are looking for but
apt-get has a build-dep option that might be worth looking into:
