Okay, that's good to know from the ground up.

But what about moving a two tier app to three tier?

I have a fat client, using the Oracle DB as a file server :-(, but about 75%
of the processes are batch. It's heavy PFC and the gnv_app calls that
I can remember update the microhelp and of_message (for email of application
errors).

I also want to migrate it to PB 7.0.

What should I look out for?
Will it increase processing speeds?
How can I notify users of progress if the process is running on an App
serverr?
Can I use Jaguar and/or PowerDynamo (or the PB 7 equivalents)?
Should I rewrite this app?

It's written in PB 6.5.1, NT 4.0 is the platform, Oracle 7.3 is the DB.

Mike,

If you develop Jaguar Applications using PowerBuilder 7.0, PowerDynamo,

PowerSite Then you don't need PFC and PFC is nothing to do with Jaguar and
PowerDynamo. PowerDynamo is Application server.
PowerSite is Web development tool which you will develop the all HTML
datawindows in IT. For Dynamic HTML project you need
Jaguar,PowerBuilder,PowerSite and PowerDynamo. If you hav any more Q? let me

know.

For the novice here. Can someone explain the difference/uses of these two.
We are embarking on a dynamic HTML project and want to use the PFC as much
as
possible. So what does Jaguar and PowerDynamo have to do with this? Well,
we don't know. Does the PFC support both? Do we need both? Can we use
PowerDynamo only (preferred if possible). Can we use the PFC in a
web-development/deployment situation?

Any white papers, examples, anything out there that will help us make the
correct decisions?

Thanks in Advance
Mike
