It's supposed to handle the connection string passed as dbname case to be able to get the right output for host:port. It works, but I don't really like it all that much, honestly. I also submitted a patch to add on to libpq to handle this, but Alvaro posed some questions I don't have good answers for. So I actually have another patch brewing that I actually like, but I need to put the finishing touches on.
