Ron Dethlefson has researched the long horns, and lists which diamond discs 
were 
recorded using them.  i'm almost certain that the horns were assembled after 
the DD 
era began, and thus also after the 2-minute wax era.  Anyone have Ron's books 
handy to confirm?

Usually when one hears an echo when playing a cylinder, it's due to the hinge 
block 
being too tight so that the stylus can't move freely in the lateral direction.
