Being that that is a branded case keywind model A GEM with a carriage from a
Model D, I doubt it will stop at $300. I am guessing more like $500-600. The
red cariage arm will need to be traded for a black carriage arm. I also note
there are no pics of the front, leading me to believe it may have problems.
The seller is probably not knowledgeable as he calls the cylinders 'discs', and
who is Ruby Goldberg? Rube Goldberg's clumsy sister?
The machine itself is a 2 minute machine, not 2 and 4. I suspect the horn crane
is a repro, as it looks exactly like one I bought that turned out to be repro..
The seller would not take it back, althought he figured it was a repro. He said
it was up to me to ask. What a jerk. Anyhow, good luck on your search, it will
be difficult to find a 2/4 machine for $300 or less but you never know, you
might hit it lucky at some garage sale. THere was a model D Standard at a swap
meet here in CA for $375, but the mandrel was frozen. Took quite a bit of
repair, but it was worth it.

You all know I've been in the market for a functioning cylinder phono for
some time now... I don't care at all about its cosmetic condition as long
as it runs reliably and sounds good. I'd prefer a machine that plays both 2
and 4 minute, but since I've never collected cylinders and only have a few,
I'd be fine with a phono that only played one or the other... The most
important factor is cost, however, as I can't afford to spend more than
$200 - $300 (thus my lack of concern over its visual condition).

Is this machine worth it?

And would anyone with such a machine for sale kindly contact me off-list if
it's not? (Come to think of it, even if it is. I need options.)

I thank you all very much in advance,
Robert

PS -- LOL @ the dicks being original or repro!

Hi guys
This is not spam. For those of you who feel you were underendowed by nature,
read the green print on this phono auction, in line four. There is hope yet,
if you are willing to buy this Gem. ;-)
