Ah. Now that we're talking about British antique cars I can mention my 1965
Morgan Plus 4. It's built like an antique phonograph and is just as much
fun to fix! When I want to grease the front end I just step on a button on
the
floor and hot oil from the crankcase sprays the front end joints. Reminds
me of the oil ports on an Edison disc machine! It was designed in 1936 and
really hasn't changed much since then.
Since it's British I would have to travel with my HMV 460 Lumiere in the
passenger seat. Now THAT I'm not willing to do. There would be no room for
anything but the Lumiere! And I can just see the Lumiere diaphraghm bouncing
around on a rough road! Forget that!! The Morgan has stagecoach leaf springs
in the rear!
I started and ended my car collection with the Morgan. I put a pit in my
garage and even built an extra garage for the car "collection" and then
decided
that phonographs were just as interesting and were more of a year round
hobby. So that's where I am at present. But I love both the phonos and
Morgan.

Subject: [Phono-L] Needed -- Mikky Phone mainspring (and maybe reproducer)
Message-ID: <[email protected]>

I bought a Mikky Phone a little while ago and it turns out that the
mainspring is broken despite most everything else being in reasonably
good condition. My "Mr. Fixit" (aka Ron L'Herault) sent the spring to
APSCO, but they can't make one. Do any of you have a junker Mikky Phone
you'd be willing to part out? I could also use the reproducer, but that
not as critical -- the one I have will do until a better one comes along.

Thanks!

I might add that this is the phono that stores in a little crinkle-finish
box made in Occupied Japan. It is not the small one that stored in a
circular metal can.
