But if it really is just for effect, I'd go with the new one; If it's for display, there are real antiques available, usually for around $100. After you mentioned the leather helmet, it piqued my interest and I did a Google search and was surprised to see the number of vendors and items available. Goggles and fabric and leather coats are also abundant. Alas, my cars are a bit later model and it would be period incorrect for something like that. I have a 55 Packard Constellation and a 72 Porsche 911T that are in various stages of disassembly right now. John ---- [email protected] wrote: In a message dated 6/27/2007 11:19:05 P.M. Don't get me wrong, I did love that Morgan. We actually built our home with large French doors so I could put it on display in the middle of our home, inside. We would have dinner parties and put the top down on the Morgan and place a piece of plywood over the front and rear seats and use that platform as a serving area for food. Great fun. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, June 27, 2007 9:18 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Phono-L] OT-vintage car In a message dated 6/27/2007 11:02:02 A.M. Always overheated when driving in the summer and leaked rain in the winter. It was a beautiful car but a real pain in the A**. Bob Johnson Hi Bob, Now why would you take the Morgan out in the summer? It's just too hot for that. And now why would you take the Morgan out in the winter? That's just too cold. And it doesn't exactly have electronic traction control for the snow. So what's left? It's a wonderful open car for a cool summer's evening. Of course if it rains you had better plan on spending ten minutes putting up the top--so plan ahead. The top really doesn't leak---much. So do I love driving it? You bet. I love being able to put my fingers on the asphalt while sitting in the car. I love having to lean over to the left when making a hard left turn--and then to the right when turning right. I thought I died and went to heaven when I bought that car. What I really want to find is a 1920 aviators leather helmet and goggles to wear when I'm driving. --Art Heller ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. _______________________________________________ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.oldcrank.org
