Hm, yeah that was mentioned you're right. And that mention is
inappropriate, as the issue isn't political views elsewhere (as
mentioned, I know many people here who disagree politically but are
still able to collaborate) but behavior and communication issues here in
FIG.
My point regarding the Reddit thread stands, though; it was quite
disappointing to see someone try to derail the issue in that way
(apparently with at least some success).

PMJ is a human being that needs to be cared for the same as any other
human being. But that is not this groups responsibility. Any benefits
that PMJ brings to this group also come with a mountain of baggage and
politics that I personally want nothing to do with. If this group
continues to allow PMJ to serve as a voting member, they are
implicitly saying that his communication style, politics, and
leadership within the community deserve respect and consideration. "
That's a direct quote from Woody Gilk on July 12th. You can find it
toward the bottom on page 5.

I am reasonably sure the only place that "his politics" came up
was in
the Reddit thread, where the group moderator spent a lot of time
insisting that calling Paul to task is all about revenge for being
anti-CoC. That's a red herring, a fictitious one, and I would
appreciate it if you would not drag that nonsense in here.
Repeating a
lie doesn't make it true.
