"In GNU/Linux, chkconfig --level 35 httpd off"

Thanks, I'll try it.

But, what will that turn off? I have apache 1.X and apache 2.X on red
hat? I want to use either or, whichever works with the php 4.3 on red
hat. So ... what do I choose? How do I make the system use only one of
them, how do I erase the other one?

In Windows, go to service->apache->manual start
In GNU/Linux, chkconfig --level 35 httpd off
