Underline... call - with the telephone... the State Board of Medical Examiners to check for disciplinary actions. You can not do this on the internet. You have to call. I was driving to work in the car the other day, and the discussion on the talk show was how to find a good doctor. An OBGYN called in and did also say it was o.k. to ask for credentials - i.e. - where did you go to school, where did you get your training.. stuff like that. He specifically metioned to call the State Board of Medical Examiners. Don't pick your neurosurgeon (especially a pituitary neurosurgeon) because so and so used him, or his furniture is nice... or he is cute. You want a successful surgery and a favorable outcome. Do your homework. One of the top pituitary neurosurgeons said that no surgeon who does less than 50 pituitary surgeries a year should even operate on a Cushing's case. The bottom line is that these surgeons have had more practice and practice makes perfect. You want to know longitudinal outcome (cure rate) and recurrance rate. Don't be afraid to talk to more than one surgeon. You have time to make a good decision. ![]() |
