I was diagnosed in the summer of 2003 with a 1 cm. prolactinoma. I had a low libido and impotence but the reason I kept going back to the doctor was extreme fatigue and headaches. I assumed the libido, etc. was due to being 56 years old... but I knew the headaches shouldn't last for months at a time and I should be able to cut the grass without taking a nap before finishing. I had been to an ENT, a Neurologis, and finally back to my GP who sent me to an Endo. The process took over three years. The Endo put me on androderm patches and ordered a bunch of blood work and an MRI. They found it! My prolactin was also high and a couple of other hormones, including testesterone, were out of whack. He put me on dostinex (which lowered the prolactin to normal and two androderm patches a day also helped). I'm still very fatigued and have headaches, but not as often. I really think that the blame lies in the laps of several people for not finding men's adenomas sooner. First with the patient, then about equally with the physician. If the man ever goes to the doctor for anything certain questions should be asked at certain ages. Also if the man has a partner s/he should play a part in the appt. with a doctor. As we get older, we often become complacent in our relationships. Both sexes should communicate with each other and explore if there is something that can be going wrong physically. ![]() |
