Prince, I, too, have funny head pain or discomfort off and on. My newest doctor told me that if I complain a lot about headaches, then my tumor should qualify for removal. So next time I saw him I complained about headaches and he did not yet recommend surgery. Oh well. I believe my Brain Fog is due to my low blood pressure (which I think is caused by my Pit Tumor). The test for this is a tilt-table test. With this low bp (called Neurally Mediated Hypotension), when I am inactive physically, my heart slows down and the blood pools in my lower legs via gravity.
This causes reduced blood in the brain and heart. I find I can fix this situation within 30 minutes by lying down flat, my legs or knees raised a bit. If I do nothing, I will pass out. To help me fall asleep, which sometimes is difficult after sleeping so much during the day, I take: Melantonin (tells the body clock its time for sleep), Calcium, Zoloft, Magnesium. I need a Xanax (0.25mg) rarely but sometimes to fall asleep, too. Basically, my symptoms are: extreme fatigue (in bed 20 out of 24 hours for 7 years now), dizziness, lightheadedness, some nausea, blurry vision, can't hold pee &wet my pants without DDAVP pills, vertigo (can't ride in SUV's or little buses! or symptoms get much worse), foggy &unclear thinking, various noise in my ears (especially when lying down), low blood pressure (that only shows up on a tilt table test, not the normal arm cuff test).
I take Florinef for the low blood pressure. It makes my body retain salt and, therefore, water, which increases my blood volume and my blood pressure. Some people are cured of fatigue with this drug but not me -- tho' it does help me alot.
I take Provigil to relieve my daytime sleepiness. It helps alot and I get the added benefit of much clearer thinking and some energy. Also, it reduced my appetite! Yea!
My doctor is trying me on Coritsol and Thyroid meds and I don't think they are helping much yet.
I also take Zoloft for depression. My Psychiatrist encourages me by telling me that, even with the antidepresent, my circumstances with these health problems should still make me somewhat depressed.
Have you found any drugs or diets, etc. that help you with your symptoms? Isn't being in bed so much the pits! I feel like singing the spiritual song, "We shall overcome !"
May God bless you (and all of us) with a quick recovery and then good health 'till Jesus comes!
This "trial" of bad health has increased my faith and dependence in God but I still can't help occasionally singing out, "Would it change some vast eternal plan if I were a healthy and rich woman ?" (taken from Fiddler on the Roof and the song "If I were a rich man").
Pam
