Yes I agree that they should have been paying attention to this right from the beginning. Way back at the beginning of 2001 when they found the 'intrasellar cisternal herniation' I suspected it was the culprit of the headaches, but how does a mere patient argue with a neurologist that won't even talk to you. I've already got things organized in case the base hospital does anything to interfere with the appt. at OHSU. I sincerely hope I won't have to use any legal assistance, but I won't let them ignore what might end up being a serious problem for me. I am compiling a list of symptoms no matter how unrelated I think they are. Hot flashes/sweating has been a huge problem for me over the last 3 years. Dizziness has been an ongoing problem as well. I certainly do not have the same mental acuity I had 5 years ago, and of course headaches and visual disturbances, weight gain, change in shoe size, mild acne, stretch marks (although I don't know if those are just from pregnany and gaining weight), joint pain in shoulders and knees, fatigue, (just plain feeling sick and tired), constipation/GI problems (with no cause that the GI doc can find), very moody - I can be fine one minute then very angry and agitated the next for no reason, facial hair although it's not real bad, it's very much like a beard, dry skin (although I have psoriasis so I'm not sure that matters) and change in ring size. So that's the main list, and all that alongside a pituitary lesion (that's what Dr. Ludlam called it) sure does seem to point at pituitary disease. I just don't know what kind, but Dr. Ludlam mentioned the possibility of Cushings. I haven't given him a complete list of symptoms yet, so we'll have to wait and see what happens with the appt. Finding this site has been a saving grace, it's allowed me to ask questions and read about other people and given me a sense of hope. |
