>>>Did you have a surgery done by him as well?<<<

No - my partner had pit tumour surgery April 22. Not me. Read past posts for more details.

>>>>Do you happen to know how many pituitary surgeries he's done?<<<<<

No - didn't ask. I imagine you could email him and ask him. I know he did 2 on April 22/05! I had done a lot of research before contacting him including in this site. Go to U of T and google him. Google his name. My doctor knew him - my psychiatrist knew him - my internist knew him. Patients from brain tumour sites knew him. Nothing but praise for him. When my partner met him he felt he was "in safe hands".

How long did you/your friend have to wait before getting in for the surgery?

8 weeks from the first visit. The tumour was resting on his optical nerve but he wasn't in immediate danger as these tumours grow very slowly.

<<<<<Have either of you had the tumour grow back?>>>>

The tumour was 5+ cm 8 years ago - had 2 operations - damaged pituitary - left most of the tumour in there. Grew back. Dr. Gentili thinks he got it all this time but that will depend on the MRI results.

>>>>>There is another surgeon in Toronto named Harley Smyth who may have done more surgeries.<<<<<

Yes, he would have been our second choice if we had decided against Dr. Gentili. Don't know how many he has done. Both have done many many.

Exactly what do the doctors say when you tell them you are looking for a second opinion? Personally, I would say "goodbye" to that type of a doctor in a hurry!
