Searching for a Surgeon

Just to make it clear. It was not Dr Gentili who did the surgery 8 years ago!! It was another neurosurgeon at another hospital. He was not a pit specialist and in my opinion he should have referred the case to a specialist rather than try it himself. I think the pituitary was damaged by both the tumour and the operations trying to remove it [apparently it is very common and no one is to be blamed - however, something tells me it would not have happened with a skilled well trained hand?].
My friend is doing fine now - back to full time physical work and looking great 6 weeks after surgery. He will have an MRI a couple of months from now and then we will know if the tumour may be gone forever and if there is any chance of his pituitary starting to work on its own again. I was a bit of a letdown when he stopped the prednisone [on it for 30 days post op] - he had a puffy face for a couple of days and was exhausted. His body is changing shape and the round belly is leaving by a belt notch or so a week!
Just out of curiousity did you find out how many pit surgeries Dr. G has done? I don't think he is the type of Doc who would be interested in counting!
Betty
