How big is 15% exactly? If it's not big enough to affect his vision anymore. My suggestion is to just replace hormones and monitor the the tumor with MRI every 6 months. If he's lucky, his pituitary will re function but the odds are not that high ,honestly speaking. I'm a liitle puzzled though that your husband was on only prednisone before the surgery? How much was he on, btw? What are the doses of hormone replacements he's taking now? Usually, when a pit tumor is suppressing the pit gland; GH, Testosterone, Thyroid, Cortisol, and ADH (antidiuretic hormone, vasopressin) start to reduce respectively. Did he have other hormone tests before the surgery? If he did, how were they? Was he always fatiqued, cold, constipated, sexually inactive, peeing often? Did he have any of these symptoms? Your doc might offer gamma knife or the other kind of knife ,I can't remember exactly ,to kill the the rest of the tumor. Anyway, don't just take my word for it. Research as much as you can. 2nd opinion from other doctors isn't a bad idea. Good luck. Hang it there. You both will get through this just fine. Paul |
