I think it's just the luck of the draw. I had radiation in 2001. I was told that my pituitary would fail and I would need hormone replacemaent but was no big deal. My tumor did not start shrinking until 2 years ago but is still there. The only hormone that they can prove deficent is growth hormone. but not on any meds. I have been disabled since radiation due to damages and I think the fact that the tumor itself causes other things..I started having problems right after radiation and continued long term....Hope things go well for you.
