----------------------------------------------------------- From: Sherry Message 1 in Discussion I was just curious as to whether or not anyone out there with Acromegaly was receiving social security disability for the Acromegaly. I still have yet to receive any treatment or surgery for my acro (6 months since diag.)and I am about at the end of my working days. It is getting too hard both physically and mentally to continue working. I am going to apply for SS Disability in five months which is how long I have to wait to apply. I was told I have to be making less than $900 a month for five months to be to even apply. Not sure how the kids and I are going to survive those months but I do not see any other options. My symptoms are progressing so rapidly and now the acro has made it's way to my heart. Thought I was scared before...now I am really scared! If anyone is on SS disability for acro or linked conditions I would appreciate knowing if I have a rough road ahead of me trying to get on it. Seems like most doctors think I am just a hypochondriac. I am afraid SS will think the same.
