Since you have to deal with older servers being queried if the user provides -p, and we control the majority of the package servers that will be used for remote search, is there really that much concern?

I think you'd agree that from a usability standpoint, -p (showing package names for results) is a lot friendlier to most users, especially those new to OpenSolaris.

However, I leave it to you and the others to decide what happens here.
