What about today? We want to have our repository today and have users test it
today? Sorry to be blunt, but I don't care what's coming in 122. I am at
120, the ips gate I have is maybe about a week old. I run "make
120/redist_import" to create the repository.
As I said earlier, if users have not changed their *_attr files, then
image-update will "do the right thing". If they have, then you need to
supply instructions on that entries to add to which *_attr file
manually.
We would have done what we always have done
And what is that? That's what I am asking, and I have been asking all along
in this thread for more than a week.
I believe Danek already mentioned that - the distro team typically
updates a pre-built version of the _*attr files with the new entries
that came in the new build.
If you want to look at the changes to authorizations, they are at
http://cr.opensolaris.org/~mph/nwam1_cr/. Why can't someone just tell me how
to get it to work? Why all the secrecy and runaround?
I'll try and take a look at the webrev but at the moment, we're trying
to resolve some issues so that build 121 can be done.
BTW, there is no secrecy and run-around - you're just running into
implementation issues and while I applaud your effort in making the
user experience as good as possible for users who will be using your
project repository, some of the problems you're running into aren't
easily solved *today*.
If image-update won't work, tell me so that I can tell my project and
management that we can't have the repository to image-update and test, and
we'll just test the same way everyone's been doing, BFU.
Sorry, that's just being unreasonable. I believe you already noted
that image-update is for the most part working, and there are some
details like the RBAC entries which will need a bit more work on the
IPS infrastructure side before the user experience is complete. My
recommendation is to let users know what manual steps they need to take
following an image-update.
