This is a gazebo problem. I have yet to get around to fully supporting
the simulation interface. Unfortunately, I have been swamped with
other projects these past few months, and there doesn't seem to be a
reprieve in the near future.

You are more than welcome to take a stab at implementing this
functionality yourself. The majority of the relevant code in in the
player subdir within the gazebo sources.
