I've also reproduced this now on an 64 bit machine running Ubuntu Hardy. A 32 bit machine with the same version of Ubuntu on does not give the error. The problem is in the final page of example 19 - I assume it is in the calls to plmap / plmeridian using mapform19. Hopefully this might help track it down.
