OK, I'll confess that I don't download svn updates on a daily basis - I tend to work on a need to know basis. I'll do so when I next get a chance and then comment on svg issues. We will at some point have an alternative svg route for plplot in that we are finishing a Qt plplot driver. The Qt widgets support output in various formats including svg. I don't know the extent to which that will preserve the nice vector properties that make svg attractive. We've delayed this a bit because the interface for Qt4 is quite different from Qt3 and we are in the process of migrating bits of our code to Qt4 along with numerous other improvements (a major one of which is moving to plplot which is nearly complete).
