Two for the price of one! Solving the coordinate overflow issue solved this
one as well.  I wish they were all this easy.

So I am done with the svg issues I volunteered for (as of revision 8854).
The remaing three issues which I am aware of (and which are probably too
tough for me) are subscripts being misinterpreted as superscripts in example
28 (pages 2 and 3), rotation of text not working for the -ori option for
example 10 (and presumably all other examples), and hatching not implemented
yet (see example 15). These three issues will not affect my on-going svg
PLplot logo work, but it is obviously important to solve them to make -dev
svg a complete and outstanding device driver.
