Just to add my 2p in. Following all tested on Ubuntu Hardy with rev 8859. Firefox 3.0.3 - Alignment on labels is way off with lettering shifted to the left. Labels are clipped.
Konqueror 3.5.9 - Alignment on labels is ok, but points appear as ?. Display (imagemagick 6.3.7) - Alignment on labels is too far to the left, but less so than with firefox. Labels are not clipped as a result. Gimp 2.4.5 - Alignment on labels is too far to the left (comparable to display). Inkscape 0.46 - Alignment on labels is too far to the left (nearly the same as with firefox, but not quite.) As far as I can tell display and gimp both use the "buggy" librsvg. Firefox uses native svg rendering (hence the slightly different alignment). Konqueror uses the ksvg plugin. Although inkscape links with libMagick, it uses it's own svg engine. N.B. The version of the gecko layout engine in firefox 3.0 implements quite a bit more of the svg 1.1 spec. It may be that this is where the observed differences between firefox versions lie. The conclusion seems to be that 3 out of the 4 svg engines I tested get the label alignment too far to the left, although by varying amounts. Only ksvg gets it right, although it has other problems with symbols. Andrew On Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 10:35:48PM +0100, Steve Schwartz wrote: > Alan, > > On Sun, 2008-10-05 at 11:19 -0700, Alan W.
