something a bit out of topic with the thread, but in line with the
statement above. why an SB Live! for Linux? my development box has an SB
Live! card on it and i can't use it's EAX capability. in Linux, it's just
an ordinary sound card. in Windows, it seems to make magic out of my small
speakers. the linux kernel driver for it is still emu10k, or an emulator
and freshmeat critics that creative wouldn't release their specs for a
driver creation purposes. they did release a binary-only driver but
getting it to run on a different kernel version than it was compiled for
was a bit daunting.

so, i still boot to windows to listen to my music cds and mp3s with better
quality. and besides, the windows utilities that creative provides with
the sound card really kick ass. mp3, audio-cd and vcd players with
enhanced sound capabilities...ganda.
