/mnt/floppy has to be listed in your /etc/fstab.  Try (as root)

mount /dev/fd0 /mnt

But whatever file system your floppy uses must be recognized by your
kernel.  If you didn't compile MS-DOS FS support in, then tough luck if
it's a DOS floppy.  Recompile your kernel with it.
