[plug] How is ATI support nowadays?

I'm planning to buy a LCD monitor with DVI, so I need a vid card to
match. Since it's for 2D only, I don't need much. I see that the
~P3,000 DVI-enabled cards are all ATI - market forces? How are ATI
chipsets on X.org now?
