Well said, Ariz. I'd also like to say my piece. My academic and work backgrounds are totally different from those of most of the PLUG members. These are basically non-IT as I studied BS Commerce and have got involved in social development work, with personal passion for computer softwares on the side.
At first glance, one would say I'm a little frog in a big puddle, so to speak. But it was not hard for me to get along with PLUGgers, especially the Board. We have shared the same activism, the same passion for free and open source software. We may differ in terms of deeper ideologies but FOSS advocacy to me is radical enough to help effect a more equitable society. I attended most Board meetings and assisted in as many activities as I could. There has been no instance where I felt that external forces have in any way influenced our decisions and actions. True, there were a few moments when we "complained" about the lack of remuneration system for our work, but that did not lessen, much less stop, our commitment to work. I'd like to mention more particularly Marvin and Paolo for their unquestionably commendable work. Of course, there are the unsung heroes who may prefer not to be "sung", after all. It's very unfair to hear comments that are both unfounded and dishonoring persons as well as institutions with reputation. I appeal to the person who did such despicable post to never forget tapping into his/her good side. The people directly affected by that negativism may be able to overcome it, but imagine how that kind of post would affect our efforts to increase our tribe and eventually make a difference in society.
