Maybe it does look that way. And I suppose that the moment that people
see that "Hey there is a group I could talk with! People I could ask"
they immediately ask.  When there are pressing concerns on a person's
mind, sometimes they just do things they think would make their
situations better. (Myself included in this generalization.)

Or for everyone in general to be a bit more tolerant =)

I guess that it helps and is reassuring to find a community you could
ask for help when you feel you really need it already.  I have felt
that when I joined the list.  And I hope that it would be like that to
other newbies too.
