Thats an artifact of the "big vendor unixen". A lot of programmers know how to make this admins lose their jobs.
errr... no. Give me a programmer who can transfer 1 Tb of Oracle data from a 3310 and D1000 storage arrays and move the data to an EMC CLARiiON CX500 SAN. And on the cut over date, do it less than 2 minutes with no *downtime*. Programmers and system admins have their place. For me, I see a trend where outsourcing can potentially displace a system admins job. I have seen it in a company where I have some contacts. Once other companies smells what they are doing, it's just a matter of time. -- regards, Andre | http://www.varon.ca _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
