1) overclocked the system ?
2) tried running the system by passing noapic during boot and  
observing it for a few days?
3) checked the last log at /var/log/messages prior to the system  
reboot ? knowing the last few minutes of what the system was doing  
could help in resolving the problem.
4) checked if your computer's power switch is working fine/no ground  
that sort of thing?

because i used to have the same thing on my amd64 white box. i  
thought it was a problem with the ram--- because i kinda played with  
it. a couple of weeks later i found out that the problem was with the  
power on button. when i had it fixed the box's all right.
