On a properly tuned samba box running on Linux, it is comparable to a dedicated win2003 file server. There are a lot of online docs which offer tunable parameters to both samba and the kernel to improve the performance. With regards to LDAP authentication, I have a 500+ user base which uses LDAP to authenticate against and never it became a source of bottleneck. hth, Kenneth > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > _________________________________________________ > Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List > [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) > Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists > Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.7 (MingW32) iD8DBQFGsWO20jPsukh8Q9MRAiOzAJ9bW5GDr37zpDMHpTGT0XU70n2KhQCeMtht 9QXSp8CjHGtiu4wX0v8wNPw= =gXqp -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
