in fairness, a WM6-based device (ie. HTC, etc) could also do the job :D since it supports SSH (PuTTY), VPN (OpenVPN), RDP, VNC, Skype, IMAP, SMB, FTP, web browser, commandline console, etc., but just make sure you're subscribe to unlimited dataplan. and if your unit supports WLAN, then it's definitely a plus! some, if not all, models can also act as a wireless modem that can be plugged into a gnu/linux-based laptop.
