Office 97 ran, and ran well, on 32MB of ram. I'd take Office 97 functionality any day of the week.
Otoh, with RAM costing $25 per GB, it's not so bad. But where have all the efficient programs gone?? You can run Oracle 10gR2 on 1GB very comfortably!!
