ZFS is also available on FUSE so you can run it under Linux. However for purposes of supportability and someone-to-blame, I'd run it on Solaris rather than Linux or FreeBSD. Not everyone is comfortable with cowboy-style "we'll support it ourselves by the seat of our pants" deployments.
